Gun Violence is destroying our cities
Young People in numbers of death toll fatalities
Our moms are crying
Our fathers are crying
Their children are dying
WHY, because of Gun Violence
Gun violence is an evil sub- culture that has risen in our communities
It has given people desire to commit acts of violence with no purpose, but with evil opportunities
Is Gun violence here to stay?
No I say
Its important to talk positive and walk positive to reflect the evilness of violence
Its also necessary that a people must teach common sense
We live in a world where acts of violence are around us
For we must have faith in God to protect and Guide us
To beat gun violence we must educate our children
For in them, their motivation will destroy this sin
Arise young people and stop destroying yourselves
Put down the gun and check yourselves.
R.i.p to all those we lost

This is really nice, I truely enjoyed reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteIn the past it was an honor to die for a noble cause; death in war - fighting for your country for example. Today, the youths are dying for no reason. They have no regards for life and its value. Lil boys try to be men by turning to violence as the answer to every problem. Problems which real men would be able to settle over mere conversations. Problems which are often the results of misunderstanding because they lack the competence to efficiently assess the so called problems and come up with harmless solutions.
ReplyDeleteNicely said. Also, you have to take into account all the other things that contribute to gun violence that you may not see. For example young men, like yourself play violent games like " Grand Theft Auto" that promotes the use of guns and drug missions. Removing such games from your house can also help lower the death rate of gun violence
ReplyDeleteThe timing of this topic is unbelievable! My kids dad will have to attend yet another funeral tomorrow for this very reason "gun violence". I have a boy child (7) and I am afraid; terrified (in fact) of the community that we live in today. I can only imagine the pain that those many parents go through day after day, out living their child/children. But our elected officials need to also play a role in educating and denouncing this vicious act that plagues all of our families whether directly or indirectly!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem. I most certainly agree with you. I have lost two relatives to gun violence.
ReplyDeleteNice poem. Totally agree with you I've lost a brother through gun violence.
ReplyDeleteI like this poem alot. Its really good. I actually loast 4 friends via gun violence. they werent apart of it but it was actually stray bullet.
ReplyDeleteWell said. I really enjoyed this poem. Fact is that gun violence is become way to prominent in our small society. Something definately needs to be done to counteract this issue starting in the home and further in the schools etc. Life is nothing that should be taken for granted.
ReplyDeleteWell said! This post may be related to the one parental involvement in child-rearing. This is a sad situation which is hopefully controlled soon in this community.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very thoughtful poem. I can see you have a deep concern about safety and especially among our young people who choose guns as a way out. keep that great personality. you alone can't change the world but u can help make a difference!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better!... well said.
ReplyDeleteagain it takes a village to raise a child and everyone has to do their part and the youth have to find different ways of settling their petty disputes.. gone are the days when you proved your worth or fought with your fist and the next day you kool again... with guns there is no coming back.... governments need to clean up the streets as well.
'Guns don't kill people, people kill people'. What we need to do as parents and as a community to train our children in the proper way, show them love and care for them so they don't have to look for it elsewhere. In doing so we can effectively decrease the amount of cases of gun violence.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very touchy subject for me which is why I took so long to post anything. I recently lost two really good friends to gun violence, one was her mother's only daughter and the other his mother's only child. I am a parent of two and I can not imagine the way I would feel if someone took them from in a violent way. I can not imagine having to go to work or just perform daily routines knowing I won't be able to see their face or hear their voice again. We need to ALL try to make a difference in our community, we need to hold "the peace-keepers" accountable for doing their job (or lack their of)... something needs to happen and SOON!
ReplyDeleteHey Brandon, I totally agree with you that gun violence is taking over the Virgin Islands. The islands are to small for all of the violence that takes place. All Virgin islanders should come together and stop all of this violence. The sad thing about it is that it is mostly young people who are dying. It seems like know one, especially males will live to be 30 years old. Its really depressing.
