Is it safe to maintain killer whales?

A whale attacked a trainer at Sea World. The animal has been involve in two previous deaths. The expert trainer was killed by the celebrity whale. The whale name is Tilikum. He is a 12,000 pound whale and the oldest at Sea World. The whale was involved in two incident killing. The first one happen in the early nineties and the second happen in 1998. This animal was involved in two deaths. This animal has been in captivity most of his life. Why did the incident happen? Why did the whale turn on his trainer? There are so many questions and need to be answered. Its so sad why this had to happen. This is the third time something like this had happen. Through out the history of this whale, why is the whale still performing?

  1. When I heard about this incident I was shocked. I couldn't believe what I saw and heard. This whale has been in three attacks in twenty years and nothing much is being done about it. Its sad to hear that three lives have been taken by an animal. I wish that something could be done because its not fair to the peoples memory. This whale is a million dollar entity and something needs to be done.

  2. I think this incident goes to show how unpredictable that even trained animals can be. Humans need to respect an animals territory and understand that when you are in the water with an animal of that size and power you are basically at the whale's mercy. It is sad that something like this happened three times, something should have been done earlier.

  3. I feel like there are some animals that you can trained and some you cannot. If they know that this whale cause two deaths before well then why I are they continuing to trained.

  4. The news about this situation was very touching to me and scary as well. I say this because number one I would not ever get close to any animal that is bigger than I am, that is why I have a cat and her name is pink, she is all white with a little touch of white on her head, I just love her to death.

  6. Man continues to "try" and dominate everything in the world, but a wild animal in captivity or not is still a wild animal. They should have released it after the FIRST incident. So sad for all parties involved, I am against any kind of animal cruelty and CAPTIVITY for personal is definitely #1 on my list!
